If you have been exposed to the Christian religion for very long, you have probably heard of the Ten Commandments.  According to the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible, the Ten Commandments were revealed to the prophet Moses on Mount Sinai.  The commandments were inscribed on tablets of stone by the finger of God himself.  The Commandments are a set of biblical principles relating to ethics and the worship of God.  The Ten Commandments play a fundamental role in Judaism and Christian religions.  Modern scholars disagree about when the Ten Commandments were written and by whom.  Some Bible historians question if Moses was even a real person or simply a mythical figure or legend.  They believe that the Ten Commandments were likely modeled from Hittite and Mesopotamian laws and treaties.  If Moses was a real person, he certainly never got stone tablets engraved by the finger of a god on top of a mountain.  There are some good things to be learned from the Ten Commandments, but they were certainly written by man, not inscribed by a god!
