One of the reasons that the church and Christianity continue to be such a huge influence is the fact that each generation indoctrinates the next generation.  Indoctrinating the children from a very early age and teaching them Bible stories and children's songs introduce them to the Christian religion.  In the book of Proverbs, chapter 22, verse 6 of the King James Bible it reads "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."  Children are then indoctrinated into Christianity for the rest of their lives, in the hope of passing their beliefs onto the next generation.   At least that's the main objective!
